Coming from a family where racing has been very prominent, this project was very close to home. Choosing a car that I have seen in numerous racing events and taking off all the decals featured on the car was a fun process, and putting on my own, making sure they worked together and captured the look I was going for. Then adding it to a poster using different techniques found in Photoshop allowed all of the different components to stand alone but also work together. Using a mixture of light and dark colours to create an eye-catching look with movement to tie into as well.
For this project, I picked Horror and Fantasy as my two genres. When thinking of both those genres, Medusa automatically came to mind. I used the name “Goddess Gorgo” as another way to stand out differently from all the other Medusa movies, showcasing one of her other names that isn’t used often throughout media. I also used the monochromatic colour scheme to tie into the horror aspect, adding depth by using lots of different shades and shadows. I added more depth to the monochromatic by using a lot of different textures. Showcasing Medusa in a way that doesn’t only revolve around snakes.
